As of now, SWB Guatemala is running 4 practices each week in rural communities outside Solola and we're working towards creating a practice here in Solola. Two weeks ago, we met with the mayor who was very supportive of the organization and will hopefully help advertise and secure a practice space in Solola. Practice gear donated from contacts in the US and transported by interns and visitors are stored at each location and used during each practice. If you're interested in collecting gear, let me know. We especially need kids cleats, pinnies and cones. Despite the language barrier, I have fun essentially playing charades with the kids as I act out a drill or game. Last week four groups of girls came into the office for activities. We led a few games and a self-reflective art project, with snacks of course. It continues to rain daily which sometimes cancels practice. We are working with a local school to raise awareness and recruit girls. In other news, I had a bed sheet tailored in a brightly-colored Disney pattern. Also, congratulations to Team USA and the Lady Salamanders at the Homeless World Cup, especially Street Soccer 945 Charlotte's own portera Leslie Bradford! It was great to say hi to my team in North Carolina over skype today. Please feel free to email me or write to:
